"...a tiny soundbite of Heaven." The Times

Welcome to the official website of The Sixteen, Harry Christophers, and CORO.

This is another exciting season of concerts for The Sixteen - here are brief details of our most important upcoming events.

As Associate Artists of Southbank Centre, I would like to present our second season at the Queen Elizabeth Hall as well as announcing 2008's Choral Pilgrimage and our new Oxford season.

Our 2007-2008 Southbank season features exceptionally diverse music which will provide a unique opportunity to hear The Sixteen, not only in their traditional repertoire of 16th century music, but in some of the greatest works of the 20th century. The prevailing theme is one of music and literature, from Janequin, Guerrero and Monteverdi to Poulenc, Britten and Henze, from The Song of Solomon and Petrarch to Paul Eluard and Edward Bond. The performances will be enhanced by either subtle lighting, images or some of the most famous literary figures; they will also include "pre-concert talks" and on 6th December there will be an opportunity to meet the ensemble and join us for seasonal carols in the foyer.

We are also delighted to be participating in two major Southbank Centre Festivals including Olivier Messiaen (From the Canyons to the Stars) in February.

Our 2008 Choral Pilgrimage will return to the music of England and in particular that rich tapestry of music emanating from the Tudor monarchy. Entitled "Thy Muse lives on...Treasures of Tudor England " it will feature three composers, born in or just before the reign of King Henry VIII, who survived all the traumas of the reformation to enjoy a more stable existence under Queen Elizabeth I.

In Oxford we shall be promoting three concerts as part of the Music at Oxford season, these vary from Streams of Tears - music from the Iberian peninsular and Mexico - to the Choral Pilgrimage and Handel's Coronation Anthems.

I do hope you will join us for this memorable journey and with us experience the richness and diversity of this quite wonderful and often challenging music. "
